How to reach Croatia?
BY CAR
The highways mat connecr Croatia to irs neighbors (Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Hercegovina, and Serbia-Montenegro) are good and getting bener as miles of new pavement are poured. This is especially true of me span betWeen Ljubljana and Zagreb, a route mat takes just 2 hours to complete. The route from Budapest to Zagreb running across Croatia's northern border is a!so popular. It takes about 5 hours to reach Zagreb (362km/225 miles) from me Hungarian capital. Visitors coming from Italy and Austria must pass mrough Slovenia to get to Croatia's border, but Slovenia's roads are excellent, too. In addition, the E.U. countries mat abut Croatia (Slovenia, Hungary) anticipate subscribing to me Schengen protocol, under which interna! borders among E.U. countries are dissolved. Croatia is in me process of applying for E.U. membership, which could put me country in me Schengen territory and make crossing nationa!lines seamless. But even if border checks disappear, fOU should a!ways have rour passport, insurance card, and any rental car papers (including me car's registration) available when fOU travel mrough Europe. This is especially true if you are traveling trough Serbia or Montenegro, countries mat are not ret in me E.U. membership pipeline.
